Why is it that the Republican Party lacks anyone with creativity or even planning skills? It has been over fifteen years, March 23, 2010, since Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law and the Republicans are still fighting over how or if they will replace it. How can such educated people be so stupid? Was no one on the right even thinking about how to fix our healthcare system in all that time?
Sadly, the Republicans don’t care if ObamaCare is ever reformed or replaced. Being the horrible failure that it is, it makes a great talking point about a liar who left office nearly a decade ago. Of much greater concern to the vast majority of Americans, is the liar who currently sits in the oval office and, much like his predecessor, Joe Biden, tells us not to believe our wallets or our lying eyes and just swallow his line of bullshit on how great our country is doing.
As someone who is experiencing our UnAffordable Care, solutions could be found if the spineless Republican Party cared enough about those they are elected to SERVE instead of ensuring their continued control of the narrative and the government. They will find a way to lose control of both due to lack of integrity and effort.
The current position of many members of the Republican Party is to keep the Enhanced Affordable Care Act premium subsidies enacted during the pandemic for an indeterminate period of time to be revealed in the future. This will be a monumental mistake on their part as the public will blame them, not only for unaffordable healthcare, but also of needlessly shutting down the government in an attempt to allow these same subsidies to expire. How stupid can one party be?
Due to these subsidies expiring, based on current standing, I am no longer eligible for help paying my premiums because I make too much money. At the same time, my insurer for 2025, BCBSTX, has increased my plan’s premiums by 37.69%! Losing the subsidy and the insurer’s exorbitant premium increase has effectively nearly tripled the cost of my healthcare premiums. Being retired makes it hard to absorb the cost of such ridiculous policy decisions.
The curious thing about the insurer’s increase is that it mirrors the amount of subsidy I received in 2025…I guess there is no limit to corporate greed in the United States. With the Republican Party there sure aren’t any regulations on these predators.
…More to come.
